Working at Home, Napping and Sleeping with Pets: Select Comfort finds the National Sleep Foundation Poll Yields Interesting ResultsThe National Sleep Foundation came out with their 2008 Sleep in America Poll which contains lots of interesting information on anything and everything sleep related. You can read their full report here. My colleagues and I at Select Comfort found some of the results really interesting and wanted to see what you all think: Respondents said they go to bed, on average, at 10:53 pm on workdays and at 11:24 pm on non-workdays. Do you think this is too late or not late enough? When would you ideally like to go to sleep? Lately, I’ve been trying to go to bed by 9 or 10 p.m. so I can wake up by 6 a.m. at the latest. But, I’m an early bird and this works for me. I’m also taking the Sleep Number Sleep-in Challenge to lower my risk of mortality related illnesses, and I have to say I’m feeling much better with the solid eight hours...

Select Comfort Observations: Recent U.S. News & World Report Sleep ArticleI recently read Dennis Thompson’s, June 8th, U.S. News & World Report story about sleep being a necessity and wanted to share it with you. The title of his article was “Sleep: A Necessity, Not a Luxury”. To me, this headline sounds like a no brainer. However, 40 million American don’t get a good night’s sleep and struggle with some type of sleep disorder each year. Is the phrase “get your sleep” on track to become as commonly ignored a phrase as “stop smoking” or “watch your weight”? At Select Comfort, we certainly hope not. The problem is you may not realize you have a sleep disorder, or just don’t think the recommended amount of sleep fits into your current lifestyle. Try to get the recommended 7-8 hours of sleep and do all you can to ensure it’s the best quality of sleep it can be; not just wasted time in bed....

Select Comfort Helps Ronald McDonald House Families Sleep BetterLast week I flew down to Atlanta for a Select Comfort Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Sleep Number bed donation. Although I’ve volunteered in other house set-ups, this one really took my breath away. In one day, Select Comfort employees and RMHC volunteers set-up 100 Sleep Number beds for the new Ronald McDonald House in Atlanta near Emory University. The location is absolutely beautiful. The 50-room house is environmentally friendly and nestled in a peaceful wooded area just outside of downtown Atlanta. Imagine a place that truly feels like home with a terrific support group of RMHC staff, volunteers and other families. The house officially opened on Monday. Check out their Web site for more information, www.armh.com. Some history about our relationship with the organization:
